Week 3

Assalamualaikum,

After doing some research and ask some lecturers, there are such sensor that have the same characteristics of what I've been searcing for my FYP. The sensor is Radio Frequency Identification (RFID).  RFID is  is the use of a wireless non-contact system that uses radio-frequency electromagnetic fields to transfer data from a tag attached to an object, for the purposes of automatic identification and tracking. Some tags require no battery and are powered by the electromagnetic fields used to read them. Others use a local power source and emit radio waves (electromagnetic radiation at radio frequencies). The tag contains electronically stored information which can be read from up to several metres (yards) away. Unlike a bar code, the tag does not need to be within line of sight of the reader and may be embedded in the tracked object.

the tag item is very small, it is almost the size of a grain of rice. So it will be easily to attach to the item or even at a card. This chip contain a unique radio frequency electromagnetic field so when the antenna detect the chip it will give certain signal.

But there is a problem with the sensor. The antenna of this sensor cannot detect square area, it's just like touch and go, the tag needs to be quite close to the antenna so the antenna can detect the tag. My FYP need the sensor with extra sensitivity so it can detect the tag about 4 meters far. One more problem is, I don't quite sure whether the sensor give continuous high signal to the system when it continuous detect the tag item. I think i should do some more research for the sensor. It's all for the time being, thank you

Week 2

Assalamualaikum,

First, let me briefly explain about my FYP. Automatic Car Lock/Unlock System is where the system wholly control the locking system of the car. by using 'still looking for appropriate' sensor, when the driver walks to the  car, the sensor will detect the 'tag' that the driver carry with him, so the door of the car will automatically unlock. With this system, the car is does not need a key to operate. The start and stop engine button will be provided, the by using this system, the driver can thew away the car key, xD. The maximum area that the sensor can detect the 'tag' that the driver carry is approximately about 3m squared. For the locking part, when the driver keep away from the vehicle, when the sensor cannot detects the 'tag', the car will automatically lock. Even, if there is opened window of the car, the system will automatically close the window along with locking the door.

I need to find the suitable sensor for my FYP, and i still searching for it.
Features of the sensors that i need to find :

  • detect area of surround
  • can detect unique tag item
  • the signal to detect the tag must be penetrating the body of the car
  • when the sensor detect the tag item, it will give continued high output to the system
  • when the sensor cant detect the tag item, it will give continued low output to the system

I hope there will be such sensor, so I can use it to my FYP, insyaAllah.

Week 1

Assalamualaikum,
This is my officially 1st time blogging, and thanks to UNIKL BMI new system where the final year students needs to create a blog to update their final year project so the adviser can easily monitoring them. My title of Final Year Project (FYP) is Automatic Car Lock/Unlock System, which is a system where the car will automatically lock and unlock without using the key or the remote control. I still doing the research about the sensor that I need to use and how the system operate. That's all for this week, thank you
